Is it safe to use tampons during 1st period after Pregnancy?

I started my first period after my pregnancy yesterday. It is more heavy than before I got pregnant. I am meant to be going swimming in a couple of days time. Do you think it will be safe to use a tampon?
I have had my 6 week check-up. I haven’t had sex yet – would rather sleep

Personally I would say don’t use a tampon until you have had your post-natal check up (6 weeks after the birth?) If you have had this and everything is ok then tampons should be fine.
