A parenting coach can work with a couple even before they have the child. They might need a few sittings in which the idea of planning a child, saving for the expenses of healthcare and necessary medication are explained. The parenting coach works with the couple in that he sows the thoughts and lets the couple discuss and make the key decisions. Such well-planned pregnancies are stress-free and consequently free of physical complications as well. Normally, the woman would look for a lot of reassurance from the husband and extended family about being able to give birth and rearing the child. A man might need similar counseling and advice on how well he can manage to be a father.

Many couples face fear and anxiety throughout the several phases of having children. Some parents come to a parenting coach long after they have had children – say, when the young ones have started going about on their own and exploring the house. It can be quite challenging for couples to find the time, energy, and finances for rearing the children and managing their home, social life, jobs and their own marriage. One or the other of the parents may be too tired to fulfill their roles responsibly and this makes the other partner feel let down. To prevent such issues from escalating, it is important to consult a parenting coach and plan child-rearing accordingly.
