Which foods should I avoid during Pregnancy? by flyingstyle
It’s difficult to know which food to avoid During Pregnancy. You baby’s health is all important, as is your own. But there are a few that do stand out as unwise to eat when you are carrying a child. here are some tips for food to avoid during pregnancy to help ensure a bright and healthy baby and mother:Foods to Avoid During Pregnancy
1. Alcohol -There are many documented birth defects and abnormalities associated with alcohol during pregnancy. Since alcohol passes into the placenta, every time a pregnant woman drinks, her baby drinks too. There’s no level of alcohol considered safe during pregnancy. And daily consumption can lead to a condition called fetal alcohol syndrome.
2. Raw or Undercooked Eggs and Soft Cheese – As with undercooked meat, soft cheese and raw eggs can carry bacteria. Be sure to thoroughly cook any egg products before eating.
3. Undercooked Meats and Nitrates – Meat that’s not thoroughly cooked can have bacteria and parasites, which could seriously effect your growing child. Also, avoid hot dogs, bacon and most sandwich meats since they’re full of nitrates.
4. Raw Fish, Shellfish and Sushi – Eating raw fish could possibly transmit tapeworms or other parasites. A tapeworm can suck nutrients away and therefore deprive the developing child.
5. Alfalfa and Other Raw Sprouts – The way most sprouts are grown is a breeding ground for bacteria. Adults might be able to resist the bacteria, but don’t take a chance with your baby. Even if you grow your own, avoid alfalfa sprouts since they contain a natural toxin.
6. Junk Food – Your baby must get all its nutrients from you. Just taking vitamins isn’t enough. You need to be full of good nutrition. If you fill up on Doritos, you won’t have room left for foods that can really help your baby grow beautiful, strong and healthy.
7. Mercury-High Fish – Although omega 3 fish oils are essential during pregnancy for your baby’s health and brain development, certain types of fish, mainly swordfish, mackerel and shark, are very high in mercury. Mercury is a dangerous heavy metal that’s toxic to both you and your baby. It’s best to limit your intake of fresh fish and supplement your pregnancy diet with guaranteed 100% toxin free fish oil capsules for increased levels of omega 3 fatty acids.
Your Pregancy is a special time. It’s a time when you should be happy and stress-free. Take the time to discover the food to avoid during pregnancy, and the food to safely eat, and you will enjoy your special time. Your baby deserves that at least.
